  • 1 lb Hatfield® Recipe Essentials™ Sweet or Hot Italian Ground Sausage
  • 10 oz pizza dough, packaged or homemade
  • 1 (14 oz) jar of pizza sauce
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 medium red pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • In a large skillet over medium high heat, brown sausage until no pink shows. Drain and set aside.
  • In the same pan with the onions and peppers, add the sausage and pizza sauce. Mix well.
  • Sauté onion and pepper until soft, 6-7 minutes.
  • Lay pizza dough on baking sheet. Place a heaping pile of sausage mixture on one side of the dough. There may be some leftover.
  • Sprinkle cheeses. Fold dough over and pinch ends and sides together.
  • Cut ¼-inch slits in the top of the dough and brush with melted butter.
  • Cook in oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
